In 793, a Viking raid on Lindisfarne caused much consternation throughout the Christian west and is now often taken as the beginning of the Viking Age.
The Viking Age (793-1066 AD) is a period in the history of the Scandinavians, during which they expanded and built settlements throughout Europe and beyond. As such the Viking Age applies not only to their homeland of Scandinavia, but to any place significantly settled by Scandinavians during the period.
Norsemen explored Europe by its seas and rivers for trade, raids, colonization, and conquest. In this period, the Norsemen settled in Norse Greenland, Newfoundland, and present-day Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Normandy, Estonia, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Isle of Man, the Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and Italy.
Vikings destroyed the abbey on Lindisfarne, a centre of learning on an island off the northeast coast of England in Northumberland. Monks were killed in the abbey,

1,2 million people left Sweden and moved to America
Sweden where starving 1868, 1869 and 1870. Aprox 27 000 people died. Lack of help from the Swedish GOV was one puch factor. A wave started. People left Sweden. Denmark, Germany, Canada but mostly they moved to US.
